‘Opacity of the Eye’ explores the hand fan as a sacred object and as portals to the unseen. Fans are objects of glimpses, which both conceal and reveal; mysterious, empowering and symbols of interiority. Through playing with thresholds, they tease vision, allowing us to see deeper within ourselves. ‘Window to the Shadow’ is the first fan of the collection, and is inspired by the hidden layers within the mind, the conditioned parts which unconsciously affect how we perceive.
